Good morning, it's Friday, October 30, and this is The Daily Punchlist. Every estimator knows the bid isn't done when the number is. Then come the proposal, the submittals and the cut sheets nobody can find. Today, AI is going after that paperwork.

Today's theme is AI moving into the jobs that come after the first pass. Bids, project data, building design and site cameras all got new tools this week.

In today's issue

1. Bobyard carries its AI from takeoff to estimate, proposal and submittals

Bobyard, which started with AI takeoff, announced a connected workflow that takes a bid from drawings to a priced estimate, a branded proposal and submittals in one product. For submittals, contractors upload drawings and specs, and the AI finds matching products and assembles the package. Bobyard says the user confirms every product and page before it goes in.

Why it matters: Submittals land on the busiest week of a job, right after you win it. If the cut-sheet hunt shrinks, your PM spends that week on buyout instead of screenshots. Less hunting, more building.

2. Procore AI goes live on Amazon Bedrock

Procore announced that Procore AI on Amazon Bedrock is generally available. Customers can run Procore AI with models like Anthropic Claude, OpenAI ChatGPT and Amazon Nova through AWS. Procore says project drawings, RFIs and financial data stay in its secure environment and are never used to train the underlying models.

Why it matters: At big GCs, the IT and legal sign-off is often the slowest part of rolling out AI. Running it inside a cloud the company already approved could clear that hurdle faster. Paperwork for the paperwork, handled.

3. Ex-Palantir execs raise $17M for Dream, an AI model for building design

TechCrunch reports that Dream emerged from stealth with a $17 million seed round led by Andreessen Horowitz. Its model is trained on more than 100 million square feet of building data from US permit archives. The founders say it's already deployed across 10 active projects in Texas and California.

The fine print: Dream says its model makes structurally precise designs that account for plumbing and HVAC. Those are the company's claims, with no independent test yet.

Why it matters: If design gets faster, more drawings hit the street sooner. Somebody still has to check them before you pour. Trust, then verify the rebar.

4. Ailytics raises $7.4M to turn old CCTV into a site safety layer

Singapore-based Ailytics raised a $7.4 million Series A led by Tin Men Capital. Its AI watches existing CCTV feeds to monitor safety and operations, and it's deployed on the Changi Airport Terminal 5 job. The company says the system works with decades-old cameras and in rain, dust and poor light.

Why it matters: Most sites already have cameras that nobody watches. If those feeds can flag a problem in real time, the safety manager gets extra eyes without new hardware. Same cameras, better attention.

The Daily Old Joke

The painter was up on the ladder when his helper yelled, "Get a good hold on that paintbrush. I'm moving the ladder!"

Tool of the day: Bobyard

Bobyard is AI takeoff and estimating software for contractors, and now it builds proposals and submittals too (story #1). The estimator reviews each AI detection before it's locked into the estimate, per the company. https://dailypunchlist.com/tools/estimating/bobyard/ · https://www.bobyard.com
