Good morning, it's Monday, November 2, and this is The Daily Punchlist. First week of dark-by-five. The daily report is still due, and so is the closeout binder nobody wants to talk about.

Today's theme is paperwork. The AI news this week is mostly about the work after the work: closeout, schedules and delivery tickets.

In today's issue

1. Zutec launches Handover AI for main contractors

Zutec, a UK construction software company, launched Handover AI today. Subs upload O&M documents through guided templates, Zutec's team chases and quality-checks submissions within 48 hours, and AI names, tags and classifies the files. Dashboards show what's in, what's missing and what needs action before practical completion.

The fine print: Zutec calls it the first AI-enabled handover solution and says it's built on data from more than 5,000 handover projects. That's the company's own claim.

Why it matters: Closeout is where good jobs go to die slowly, chasing warranty letters from a sub who's already three jobs down the road. If software does the chasing, the PM gets back to finishing the punch list. Retention likes that.

2. Kencopa lets you move the schedule by asking Copilot

Tokyo's KENCOPA added an official MCP server to its scheduling AI agent, so Microsoft Copilot, Claude or ChatGPT can read and edit its schedules. One example from the company: "Push the third-floor formwork three days for rain, shift the rebar and concrete pour with it, and tell me the impact on the completion date." Admins can turn read and write access on or off by data type.

Why it matters: The scheduler isn't going away, but the super may never open the scheduling app again. Start with read-only. Nobody wants the chatbot moving a pour on its own.

3. IFS exec: AI isn't being used to cut site labor

Global Construction Review asked Kenny Ingram, VP of construction and engineering at software company IFS, where AI really stands on site. He said he's seen no real evidence that companies use AI to reduce labor, and that one £15bn contractor runs huge road contracts in Excel. His practical example: scan a goods received note with a phone and let AI match it to the purchase order.

Why it matters: The delivery ticket stuffed in a back pocket is a real cost problem, and it's a better first AI job than a robot. Small wins first. Fewer lost tickets, fewer weekend invoice hunts.

4. Singapore opens live jobsites to robot startups

Enterprise Singapore, the Building and Construction Authority and The GEAR by Kajima launched Startup CoLab EAI to help startups test embodied AI on construction sandboxes and live Kajima project sites. Target jobs include material handling, facade installation and surface finishing. The earlier GEAR program completed 15 proofs of concept since April 2025.

Why it matters: Most construction robots die between the demo and the second jobsite. A government and a GC handing out real sites is how they get tested on real mud. Pilots are cheap. Live sites aren't.

Date to watch: Applications open in early 2027.

The Daily Old Joke

The painter told the owner he gave the room three coats: one on the wall, one on the floor and one on himself.

Tool of the day: Part3

Part3 is construction administration software for architects, the people on the other end of your submittals and RFIs. It uses AI to compare submittals against the spec, builds field reports from a phone (even offline) and imports submittals from Procore. If your architect answers faster, your job moves faster. https://dailypunchlist.com/tools/documents/part3/ · https://www.part3.io
